Guerrero Negro is right at the border of the
states of Baja California Norte and Baja California Sur. The town
gets most of its income not from tourism, but from the salt it gathers
in the lagoons to the west.
On our first visit, in 1989, we decided to take
the road leading to the old salt wharf. The trip was decent, not
much to speak of. Later we were sorry we had taken the trip.
After a short stop for some pictures, we returned to our car to find it
loaded with little salt flies. These critters were everywhere, and
it took over 10 minutes of driving with the windows all open to get these
buggers out! |
