Mission San Javier

"Mission San Javier" is located in the hills south and then west of Loreto.  The road to the mission is rough, but passable in dry weather.  The mission itself sits on a nice courtyard, and the church is still in use.  The mission was founded in 1699, which makes it the 2nd oldest of all the missions in the Californias (Loreto's mission is the oldest).
This mission is very impressive, and the paintings inside the church are very nice.  However, the locals do not allow flash photography inside the mission, so, sorry, no pictures inside.
If you have about 5 hours to kill and you're in Loreto, a trip to Mission San Javier is well worth the time and effort.
