South of San Felipe to Gonzaga Bay

"Bahia San Luis Gonzaga", or Gonzaga Bay, is one of my favorite places in Baja. However, it is also one of the more difficult and time consuming places to reach. The road from San Felipe takes a good 3 1/2-4 hours of straight driving, depending on road conditions.
The southern portion of the bay itself is very nice, with many American homes lining the coast and a very nice restaurant/hotel on the northern section at Alfonsina's. There are also many nice places to see along the way, including the ghostly town of Puertecitos. I've traveled this way at least 10 times and I don't think I've seen more than 2 people at a time in Puertecitos.
The drive south of Puertecitos to Gonzaga Bay is mostly rough washboard and can be very rocky. We've busted our oil pan, muffler, and suffered two flat tires on this road (all different trips), so careful driving and preparation is a must.
